A brief for AI video editing is a short set of instructions that tells the tool what the video is for, who watches it and what must appear in it. You do not need editing skills to write one. You need to know your business, your customer and the one thing you want to say.

A clear brief helps the tool understand your goal. It also saves you time, because you describe the goal once instead of fixing the same mistakes again and again.

What a good brief contains

A brief is not a long document. A few short answers are enough. Write them in plain words, the way you would explain the job to a new colleague.

  • Goal: what the video should make people do, such as visit your shop or send a message.
  • Audience: who will watch it, for example local customers or people who already know you.
  • One main message: the single idea the viewer should remember.
  • Footage notes: which clips are the good ones and what happens in them.
  • Tone: calm, friendly, direct or playful.
  • Must-have text: the opening line, the name of your business, the price or the address.
  • Length and format: short vertical video for Reels, TikTok or Shorts.
  • What to avoid: shaky clips, a certain song or a claim you cannot support.

Examples from eight fields

These are short briefs you can copy and adjust. Each one fits in a few lines.

A café: goal is to fill tables on a quiet Tuesday. Audience is people who work nearby. Main message is fresh lunch, ready in ten minutes. Footage shows the counter, the daily plate and a full table. Tone is warm and quick. Text on screen: the opening line and the opening hours.

A hairdresser: goal is bookings for colour. Audience is clients who have not visited in a year. Main message is a new look in one visit. Footage shows before and after, plus the chair and the mirror. Tone is confident. Text on screen: the service name and how to book.

A car repair shop: goal is trust. Audience is drivers who fear a big bill. Main message is a clear price before work starts. Footage shows the workshop, a diagnostic check and a handshake. Tone is calm and honest. Text on screen: the opening line and the phone number.

A fitness coach: goal is sign-ups for a starter course. Audience is beginners, not athletes. Main message is small steps, real progress. Footage shows simple exercises and a normal person, not a model. Tone is encouraging. Text on screen: the course length and the first session date.

A real estate agent: goal is viewings for one flat. Audience is first-time buyers. Main message is light, space and a good location. Footage shows the rooms in daylight, the entrance and the street. Tone is factual. Text on screen: the size, the price and the district.

A bakery: goal is morning visits. Audience is families nearby. Main message is bread baked today. Footage shows dough, the oven and the shelves. Tone is simple and proud. Text on screen: the opening line and the address.

A dentist: goal is new patients for a check-up. Audience is adults who avoid the dentist. Main message is gentle care and clear prices. Footage shows the waiting room, the equipment and a smiling patient who agreed to be filmed. Tone is reassuring. Text on screen: the service and how to book.

A photographer: goal is wedding enquiries. Audience is couples planning next year. Main message is calm, natural photos. Footage shows a ceremony, a couple walking and details like rings. Tone is soft. Text on screen: the season and a contact.

Common mistakes to avoid

Do not write a brief that lists everything your business does. A short video holds one idea. If you try to say too many things, the viewer may remember none.

Do not describe footage you do not have. AI video editing works with your own clips and photos. It does not add stock scenes or anything you did not film. If a shot is missing, film it or leave it out.

Do not use vague words like nice, modern or professional. Say what you mean: bright kitchen, clean floor, friendly greeting.

Do not forget the opening line. Write it down in the brief and keep it short.

A simple checklist before you upload

  • I wrote the goal in one sentence.
  • I named the audience.
  • I chose one main message.
  • I listed the clips I want to use.
  • I wrote the opening line and any text that must appear.
  • I noted the tone in two or three words.
  • I removed clips I do not want in the video.
  • I checked that my files fit the limits: up to 50 files per upload, 200 per project, 2 GB per file, and clips of 10 to 35 seconds.

When your brief is ready, open Relsko and upload your footage. The assistant asks at most a couple of questions and proposes three concepts. Pick one. Relsko then makes three cut variants of that concept, and you download the one you like. You can register for 30 days of full access without a card, and invitations extend it. Afterwards there is a free level with a small watermark. Animated captions are in beta, and the interface, assistant, speech transcription and in-video text work in 16 languages.

In het kort: A brief for AI video editing is a few short answers: the goal, the audience, one main message, the footage to use and the tone.

Vragen die mensen daarna stellen

How long should a brief for AI video editing be?
A few short lines are enough. Cover the goal, the audience, one main message, the footage you want to use and the tone. A long document usually hides the main point instead of clarifying it.
Can I write the brief in Czech or another language?
Yes. The Relsko interface, assistant, speech transcription and in-video text work in 16 languages. You can also translate the finished video's text into any of the other 15 languages.
What if my footage does not match the brief?
Then change the brief or film the missing shots. Relsko only works with your own clips and photos and never adds stock footage or generated scenes. A brief that describes shots you do not have may not produce a usable video.
